Artist's Description

More accurately called bison today, it is believed that buffalo crossed over a land bridge that once connected the Asian and North American continents. Through the centuries buffalo slowly moved southward, eventually reaching as far as Mexico and as far east as the Atlantic Coast, extending south to Florida. But, the largest herds were found on the plains and prairies, from the Rocky Mountains east to the Mississippi River, and from Great Slave Lake in Canada to Texas.

By 1800, the small buffalo herds east of the Mississippi River were gone. Buffalo may have been killed to protect livestock and farmlands in that region. With westward expansion the systematic reduction of the plains herds began around 1830, when buffalo hunting became the chief industry of the plains. About David and Carol Kelly

David and Carol Kelly

Thank you for visiting our site. We have been married 58 years and are long time partners in our art as well as life. Most of the beautiful floral and butterfly images are from Carol's camera while most of the rest are from David's. The making of a photographic image requires more than the click of a shutter. In the days of film photography we spent many hours in the chemical darkroom to make the negative more than just a "picture". The current digital darkroom allows far more control and artistic development for the original digital file to come to life as art.You will find in our galleries realistic presentations, simulated paintings and outright digital abstracts. We thank you very much for taking the time to look at our images.
