Description
Fair Park is home to one of the greatest concentrations of early 20th century Art Deco exposition buildings in the world. For the Texas Centennial Exposition and World's Fair of 1936, a total of fifty structures were erected. Twentyone of those survive today.
Larger than life sculptures depict the six flags of the nations that once and now rule over Texas: Mexico, The Confederacy, Spain, France, The Republic of Texas and the United States. Theses sculptures can be found in the porticos in front of the buildings on either side of the Esplanade. This particular sculpture represents Texas as part of Spain.
