Artist's Description

This is the door knob on the massive door to the Texas State Capital Building. The Texas Capitol door knobs have the trademark "Texas Star" and show the 100+ years of use.

Construction of the Italian Renaissance Revival-style Texas State Capitol was funded by an article of the state constitution, adopted on February 15, 1876. The cornerstone for the building was laid on March 2, 1885, Texas Independence Day, and the completed building was opened to the public on April 21, 1888, San Jacinto Day. The building was originally planned to be constructed entirely of limestone from Oatmanville (present-day Oak Hill), about ten miles (16 km) to the southwest. However, the limestone was found to have a high iron content after it began to discolor. About David and Carol Kelly

David and Carol Kelly

Thank you for visiting our site. We have been married 58 years and are long time partners in our art as well as life. Most of the beautiful floral and butterfly images are from Carol's camera while most of the rest are from David's. The making of a photographic image requires more than the click of a shutter. In the days of film photography we spent many hours in the chemical darkroom to make the negative more than just a "picture". The current digital darkroom allows far more control and artistic development for the original digital file to come to life as art.You will find in our galleries realistic presentations, simulated paintings and outright digital abstracts. We thank you very much for taking the time to look at our images.
