Located adjacent to the Alamo, the original Menger Hotel opened on February 1, 1859. "The finest hotel west of the Mississippi River" was host to such notables as Sam Houston, Generals Lee and Grant and Presidents McKinley, Taft and Eisenhower—Teddy Roosevelt even recruited the Rough Riders in the Menger Bar.
As well as being one of the oldest hotels in Texas, it's also believed to be the most haunted in Texas, with no fewer than 32 separate ghosts reported throughout the years.
About David and Carol Kelly
Thank you for visiting our site. We have been married 58 years and are long time partners in our art as well as life. Most of the beautiful floral and butterfly images are from Carol's camera while most of the rest are from David's. The making of a photographic image requires more than the click of a shutter.In the days of film photography we spent many hours in the chemical darkroom to make the negative more than just a "picture". The current digital darkroom allows far more control and artistic development for the original digital file to come to life as art.You will find in our galleries realistic presentations, simulated paintings and outright digital abstracts.
