Description
This is a composite of the Lone Star flag and a Texas bluebonnet.
The Texas flag is known as the "Lone Star Flag" thus the state's nickname "The Lone Star State". It was adopted on January 25, 1839 as the final national flag of the Republic of Texas. When Texas became the 28th state of the Union on December 29, 1845, its national flag became the state flag.
Named for its color and the resemblance of its petal to a woman's sunbonnet, the bluebonnet is the state flower of Texas. It blooms in the early spring and can be readily found in fields and along the roadsides throughout central and south Texas.
