Description
Furtherest south of San Antonio's five missions is San Francisco de la Espada. A familiar symbol of Mission Espada is the chapel's unusual doorway. Although many believe the broken line of its outer arc is due to the stones having been improperly placed, it's style could have been influenced by the Visigothic style church of San Juan Batista built in 661 AD in northen Spain, which has similarities to Espada's chapel. The arches you see here is the partly restored convento.
